What is required to book a character? We require a $50 deposit within 24 hours of confirming availability. We operate on a first-come, first-serve basis. If we do not confirm your booking by the 24 hour mark, your reservation will be given to the next in line. Due to demand, we cannot hold your reservation without a timely booking deposit.
How do I pay? We use PayPal Invoicing (you do not need a PayPal account to pay an invoice on PayPal. All major credit cards are accepted. Checks and cash are not accepted. Venmo is also accepted.
When do I pay for my event? We require a $50 deposit within 24 hours of confirming availability for your event. The remaining balance is due the Thursday prior to your event. Staff members may not process payments at your event.
Can I give performers gratuity? Yes, most clients will tip 10-20% or more. This may be given to performers in an envelope. Please do not let children see you paying characters.
Is there a minimum or maximum amount of children that can attend? No, but too few or too many may affect how much down time is available for meet and greets, photos, and activities. For example, a character may not be able to complete all the activities in the package with 20+ children in attendance. On the other hand, a 60 minute party for 5 children will have a lot of time to spare. We do not recommend a 60 minute party for less than 10 children or more than 20 children. Booking is at your own discretion and "at your own risk." Refunds are not provided if too few or too many children are present resulting in a perceived dissatisfaction.
Can I choose my activities? You may omit activities from a package but you may not add activities to a package. We recommend leaving the package as-is unless disabilities or special needs would hinder participation in activities. Sometimes a child who looks bored during story time ends up saying story time was their favorite part of the party! Children who may be too shy to dance might just love watching a princess twirl and dance. Our characters monitor for engagement throughout the party and adjust activities as needed. If the kids are not engaged in story time (or any activity) they will wrap it up and move along.
Why do I have to pay in advance? Characters have more than one party a day. Having hundreds of dollars on them is not safe and money can easily go missing from party to party. Curious kiddos often peek into the party bag and take things out too. Moreover, most of your payment goes towards dry-cleaning the costume, washing and styling the wig, prepping activities, and traveling to your event. These costs all take place prior to your character's arrival.
Where is your venue? We do not have a venue. We travel to your venue of choosing. Please make sure to ask if characters are permitted at your venue! Some children's party places will not allow characters:i.e. YMCA, Chuck E. Cheese, and more. Certain HOA do not allow characters at their community clubhouses. Payment is non-refundable if you book without confirming with your venue first. We do not assume liability at your event and will not provide liability insurance to your venue. You, or your venue, is liable for the event.
Can I have a character entertainment in a party room at a trampoline park or other play facility? As long as you have acquired permission from the facility to do so and understand the entertainment will be overlapping with eating pizza/cake and likely have limited room for activities.
Will the character park in my driveway? Ideally, no. However, street parking must be easily obtained no more than 3 parking spots away from the entrance to your home or venue. If street parking is not available, please let us know in advance that the character will have to park at the bottom of your driveway. The character(s) cannot be blocked in and will not be able to move their car during their performance unless their is an emergency. If your character is required to move their car, you will not be reimbursed for time spent doing so. The character will also not extend your reservation time to account for lost time. Characters will not park in paid lots or garages. Time spent looking to acquire parking will not be refunded or accounted for.
Will my character come early to get dressed or set up? Nope! Our characters arrive at their start-time, ready to go. They will take a minute or two to put their supplies down and plug their mic in. If you prefer to keep the character out of sight from the children you are welcome to do so. It certainly makes for better photos and videos to have the children greeting the character without a party bag and speaker bogging them down. However, this is at your discretion and does not change the character reservation time.
My party is scheduled for 12:00pm and it is 11:55am. My character is not here yet. Should I panic and call? No, your character will be arriving at their start time. If they need to pull over to answer your phone calls, they may likely be late. Your calls may also interfere with their GPS and cause them to be late as well. Please allow your characters to arrive on time.
Can my dog be loose during the character's visit? Please have all pets in a separate area of the house or yard. Excited dogs may jump on the character and rip the costumes. Our costumes range from $500 - $2,000. If they are damaged you will be held liable. Some of our performers have allergies/asthma. For their safety, we ask all pets are withheld from the party area.
Is it a good idea to get a bounce house and a face painter too, or other overlapping entertainment? These can be a lot of fun!! However, please be aware that offering multiple forms of entertainment will divide the children's interests. You will end up paying for multiple forms of entertainment that the children will not fully enjoy. If you would like the most for your money, book entertainment on a schedule. E.g. 10-11:00am Face painting, 11:15am - 12:15pm Character Entertainment, 12:30 - 2:00pm Bounce House. If you overlap entertainment, some children may not get their face painted, some children might miss the character's sing-along, etc. Overlapping entertainment is at your own discretion. Assumed dissatisfaction resulting from overlapping entertainment will not warrant a refund.
Can I book the character for a pool party? Yes, however, swimming counts as overlapping entertainment (see question above). If you are hosting a pool party we recommend having a set time for the end of swimming and have the children dried off before the character arrives.
Does my trampoline or jungle gym count as overlapping entertainment? Yes. We recommend having a front yard or indoor performance if you have a trampoline or jungle gym in your backyard. See above for more information regarding overlapping entertainment.
Do adults need to be present? Yes. The character is not responsible for the safety and supervision of children at the party.
Can adult guests dress up too? This is highly discouraged, especially if you have young children that believe the characters are real. The only thing that discredits a character faster than a cousin/aunt/dad dressing up is flat out telling the children the character is not real. However, not all families encourage belief in fantasy. If your child knows the characters are just pretend then anyone can join in the costume fun but please consider that other children in attendance may believe the characters are real.
Will older cousins/friends/siblings believe in the character?: Every child is different and every family is different. Some parents choose to tell their children from a young age that characters are not real. Some children believe characters are real until they are in double digits. Some children who no longer believe still love seeing how excited the little ones are, or still think it's pretty cool that being a princess can be a job. If you have concerns, talk to your guests in advance. If your family encourages belief in fairy-tales, let parents of older children know their child should not shout out, "I know you're not real" in front of the children.
Will older cousins/friends/siblings have fun? Every child is different. If you have concerns speak with your guests in advance and consider providing an alternate activity or assigning them to help the little kids with the activities. If providing an alternate activity for older children, we suggest doing so in a separate area and not crossing into overlapping entertainment territory. Sometimes lil' sis will want to do whatever big bro is doing, so please consider your family dynamics when planning your activities.
Do you offer rain dates? No. Please make sure you plan for an alternative indoor location if booking an outdoor party.
Can the party be outdoors under tents/canopies if it is raining? If it is lightly raining and the dry is pretty dry, probably. If it's heavily raining and a long walk through mud to the tent, no.
Can it be too cold to have an outdoor party? If it's cold enough to wear jackets it's likely too cold for the performer to be outdoors without a jacket.
Can it be too hot for an outdoor party? Outdoor parties are not permitted during heat advisories. Full shade must be provided to performers outdoors in summer months. If it's too hot for you to be outside in long sleeves and long pants, it's too hot for the performer.
